From Geohashing

My name is Neil. My status is geohash newbie.

At 4pm on Saturday 7th August 2010, I visited the co-ordinates of the day in the graticule Cambridge UK. No one else was there. Here is the expedition page.

My user name is a play on words based on computer source-code and also a tribute to controlled folly.

I enjoy computer programming and wrote an implementation of "Life" in BASIC in 1972. The creatures were printed on a paper roll by a mechanical teletype. Those were the days. Later in 1976 I taught programming to school kids. We used Algol! We filled in coding forms and submitted them to be punched onto cards for the overnight run. The next day we'd get the error messages or rarely a successful run.

My folly, amongst others, is to go geohashing. A totally pointless but quite pleasing activity.
