Interactive Google Map

You are correct that it stopped working for you. It has to do in the way that I search through html tables. Not only did it not work for you there were other people that it didn't work for either. it is now fixed. It is in the process of running now and should be complete in an hour or so. I also added this section to my talk page so others would see this error if they came across the problem in their user map that had not updated in a while. --NWoodruff (talk) 15:43, 9 October 2014 (EDT)

a minor bug in the map

I think the routine picked up your dog as a participant meaning that you were not the only one to reach the hash. I don't think I have a way yet to check for human or dog but I will look into it tonight. --NWoodruff (talk) 17:12, 12 January 2015 (EST)

On second though, I found the problem...

Requirements

You must a) reach your coordinates, and b) be the only one to report on an expedition for that date.

You did not reach the coordinates. --NWoodruff (talk) 17:15, 12 January 2015 (EST)

right I didn't make it; sorry I didn't make that more clear. Pedalpusher (talk) 22:53, 12 January 2015 (EST)

State maps

Thanks for your work updating the state maps! (I was the one who made [49 of] them in the first place so I am "watching" them. :) ) --Dvdllr 17:43, 10 October 2014 (EDT)

cool, those maps are really nice. I was annoyed when I first started geohashing, thinking there were 3 virgin grats around me, but they just weren't updated on the map. So I decided to fix that and then the site was broken right when I was going to start. Now that its fixed, I'm halfway through the states(but I did skip Alaska for now, that state is a monster) and its going pretty quick. I'm just using the Meetup in <lat> <long> categories but I did come across some ninja expeditions that I set up pages for too. Feels good to add to the site. Yeah Alaska's a beast. I think I worked on it over two days. 423 graticules! --Dvdllr 13:37, 14 October 2014 (EDT)

Some thoughts...

Hi how are you? I live in Israel and after I get over my sprained ankle I'd like to go on some more trips.

I'd like to see more expeditions. Is it possible that there are large numbers of expeditions that aren't posted? Why do you think people stopped being interested?

Proposals to change the algorithm: Hashpoints are simply valid for 24 hours after they are declared based on the NYSE so that Americans will have the same amount of time as everyone else. The decimal point is an offset from the southwest corner of the graticule which will solve the awkwardness in places like London.

Changing the algorithm

Sourceror has already started a discussion. It looks like it could change.

Solli wants to push ahead with allowing those in the Western Hemisphere to continue geohashing until the point is declared for their graticule. I think that's a good idea. We're looking for outside support.
