Benjw's shiny new GPS arrived at the weekend and he has been itching to try it out. An after-work geohashing expedition on Monday afternoon seemed the ideal opportunity.
This expedition was part of a multihash by Benjw. For the other parts, see: | |||||

The expedition
I'd already been to the hashpoint in the Cambridge graticule this afternoon, but due to the prime meridian there was another one on offer only about 20 miles away near Peterborough. I had a quick stop in the village of Christchurch to try to find a couple of geocaches (one found, one not) but then the sun was starting to think about setting, so I made my way west as swiftly as possible.
The hashpoint was near a large shopping mall, so I made use of their carpark and their facilities, then walked through the underpass under the A1260. I was quite close to an office building, but the hashpoint itself was on some waste ground next door. With all the new shops and offices nearby I was surprised that it hadn't been built on yet. There was a small ditch, but it wasn't big enough to be intended to keep people out, just to drain water, so I was easily able to find the hashpoint about ten metres away from the office carpark. I again tried to photograph the GPS but none of the numbers came out. Everything else was very un-picturesque so I just snapped a couple of shots in either direction from the edge of the waste ground and headed back to the car.
Another small detour on the way back led to finding a small geocache in the shopping centre carpark -- GCX29F -- but I forgot to photograph it as proof so you'll just have to believe me.
By then it was almost 5pm so I set off for home before the rush hour started.
