Because 2009-11-28 35 -84 failed in terms of obtaining a Midnight Geohash, I was saddened and needed desperately to acquire the achievement. Luckily, Chelsea had told me earlier in the day that she wanted to go hashing some time. Since now I had my mind on hashing, I decided to look up today's coordinates. Usually, I check the Cleveland, TN page first, but the hashpoint was too far to the west. Fortunately, that meant that the coordinates for the Knoxville, TN graticule was quite near to me, which proved to be true.
Thus, die Ekspedisie:
- Again, we used good, ole Snowball to carry us all around. We left the APT around 23:20 ET. I pulled out the beautiful British voice-lady that is the Garmin, and plugged in the daily coordinates. From there, she lead the way with her commanding feminine voice. After passing some shady areas sprinkled with beautiful houses here and there, we arrived on our road. We parked at a rehabilitation center that was located not 100 yards from our destination. We were almost there.
- On Google Maps (satellite), the location looked to be on the perimeter of a forest. I thought that was too much green to not have been bought by some company. Well, while Ben and I searched the area, we noticed that it actually had been bought. They were in the midst of making a neighborhood, it seemed. This was good news -- even great news. This meant that finding the hashpoint would be so much easier.
- We had a spare 10 minutes, so we took some pictures of the site just for taking picture's sake. It was pretty cold but not cold enough for the Frozen Geohash. The ground was very muddy and the sky covered with clouds with the Moon's light piercing through. After goofing off, we snapped a shot of the coordinates with a cellphone near to prove that we had achieved the Midnight Geohash (We did 24:00 because getting 00:00 is impossible during the week.) Then we went back to goofing off! Let the pictures finish the rest of the tale.
