On Monday January 19th Sourcerer set out at 3am, drove 546 miles and attempted seven hashpoints in about 16 hours. Six were reached. This was the final and sixth success.
By now it was getting dark again and light sleety drizzle had started. Everything looked dull and dank and I was getting tired. But the hashpoint MUST be reached! Off I toiled through the mud and there it was in all its glory, so I forgot to take a photo. The only thing missing was Eeyore, looking sad in a cold damp house.
Correction: I had turned into Eeyore!
It only remained to drive home. There was a long delay at Sutton Bridge. The swing bridge had been opened to allow maritime traffic up the River Nene. I thought that had fallen into disuse years ago. Wrong again! I thought my headlights had failed. It turned out the there was so much mud and filth from the winter roads that the light was failing to shine through properly.
