This morning there looked like there were two accessible hashes - one in the home graticule of -43, 172, and one in the graticule to the west, -43, 171. Could we do the double?

I rang my geohashing buddy, and the dynamic duo were off!

Expedition

Unfortunately, one of the kids had borrowed the car last night and had forgotten to charge it up, so it wasn’t ready for a double-hash expedition. Fortunately, my geohashing buddy’s EV was fully charged and ready to go, so we jumped into his car and headed south to the hash at -43, 172, which was 50 km south from the city of Christchurch, just south of the township of Southbridge.

The hash was at the side of the road beside a gorse hedge - too easy.

From there we headed west to the township of Rakaia, where we grabbed a coffee to plan the assault on the next hash to the west while we charged up the EV!
Unfortunately, once we calculated travel time, charging time, and walking time (the next hash required a few kilometres of walking), we realised that we would have turned into pumpkins at the very least, or got into trouble with our other halves at the very worst. So we enjoyed our coffee before heading home. Lesson learned: next time we have a hash-double, we’ll just have to start a little bit earlier on in the day!
