I've been working from home the past week and I have to go to the DMV to renew my Drivers Licence. With the Hash landing not too far away from the DMV in Orchard Park, I thought this was the perfect time to get this out of the way and pick up the hash on the way home.

I let my co-workers know I would be away during the lunch hour and grabbed my paperwork for the DMV. I should have read the renewal letter better because I still didn't have all the required documents. It was crazy busy anyway, so I'll have to go back tomorrow.

Before driving to the hash, I fiddled with the camera on my phone setting it up for continuous shooting so I could hold the GPS against the steering wheel and just push/hold the camera button and still pay attention to the driving. Getting close, I booted up the GPS and watched until we were approaching the hash. I had some trouble with the glare off the GPS screen, but hoped for the best as I hit the camera button as I drove through the hash.

Making the turn at the intersection toward home, I pulled off on the shoulder to see if I would have to drive through again. It's a busy road and I wasn't interested in doing this one on foot. Plus, I had the rare opportunity for a Speed Racer. Fortunately I got a blurry pic that's just clear enough to see I'm moving just over 45 MPH (the speed limit) about 13 feet from the hash.

Happy to succeed on the first try, I continued down the road...however, I should have paid more attention to the road signs because a couple roads hit this intersection and I was pointing in the wrong direction. I ended up going south and out of my way for a bit before recognizing a road I regularly ride my bike down. Asking out-loud where the heck I was, I turned on the map on my phone and punched in directions to home. Getting back to familiar territory, I finished the 'scenic drive' and got back to work.

After pulling around the corner, the GPS died so I pulled up HashDroid to get a location. Also, I should have made the Hard Right on Powers which is why I had an additional detour going home.
