Plans

This is a relatively near geohash. The plan is to go to Hanshagen by bike, in the afternoon with some lights and the the same way straight home.

Expedition

The hash fell directly in the middle of Hanshagen. A little village which has as an attraction an old watermill, and by old I mean up to 1524 (Info in german). I have passed very often through this village every time I have been on an expedition on the east/south-east area of my home. It's on the way.

I grabbed Winterbuche at 10 to four, and it was already almost pitch dark. You could see the last drops of light where the sun sets. It is fun to go with the bike in a forest in the dark. With the propper light, obviously. But also not to intense so to not disturb the fauna. Just the needed light to see the path and don't trip over some unseen obstacle. With a few podcasts downloaded I went towards the hash.

The path, as commented, was well known. NSG Eldena, after that Friedrichshagen and then the forest of Diedrichshagen, just before arriving in Hanshagen (you might notice a pattern on the names of this villages). I met no one on the whole path.

In Hanshagen the hash fell near the little river (in English could be called a stream maybe?), but also where a paths goes just by it, or at least that what OSM was telling me. And the cartography was right. It was only 17h a little earlier maybe, but the feeling was of midnight. Typical of north-german winters probably. No one to be seen on the streets nor in their houses, no cars, no life to be apparent.

Once there I parked my bike almost on the hash coordinates. Nevertheless I had to dance for a while until I got a precise reading on my GPS.

I liked this hidden corner of Hanshagen.

Then the way back was made with no further remarkable history. Business as usual. GPS battery died on the way back, that's the most noticeable thing that happened.
