Finally, expedition 2 to the 7! Hooray! And only 6 km by bike!

Expedition

The location for my 128th expedition could hardly have been more stereotypical of the landscape: a huge field of winter wheat.

In surprisingly warm weather, I took the train to Kaltenkirchen Süd (it's only one station and the AKN was late, but I didn't want to cycle the same route twice) and then cycled 1.6 km through half-natural, half-industrial streets to the hashfield. The hash lay at the other end of the field, so I had to walk along the edge for 350 m, dodging protruding trees & shrubs and getting my shoes very dirty. I also inadvertently distubed several hares and a pheasant that were hiding in the bank. On the hashfield, I was in full view of the neighbouring farm, but could fortunately walk along 170 m of tractor tracks right up to the coordinates, which were only two steps away from the seedling-free area.

I took a few photos with Jackie & Eagle, periodically checking for tractors or workers at the farm, and then laid out "2⁷" in plant parts on the tracks for celebration. I walked back to my bike and cycled home, a little over 7 km, taking some detours to avoid the busy roads. On my way, I passed the Hof Jacobs farm I had seen often and noticed that it had sadly completely burned down in October 2021.

This trip makes me the 26th geohasher to reach 2⁷ geohashing expeditions – now on to 256! At my current pace, it should take me around three years.
