Plans
Bike there after lunch but before the sun sets. It's quite close and in an area a bit unknown to me. There should be this chapel (in ruins) that want to visit. Looking at the OSM and satellite imagery of google it seemed it would be a rather easy expedition but then I saw the topographic map and...
... oh boy, what are those 20+ meters walls? At this point I feared it wouldn't be so straightforward but I had to go anyway.
Expedition
Grabbed Frühlingskiefer after lunch, as planed, and went there directly.
It was a bit uphill but 30 minutes later I was already at the ruins of the old chapel. Only 2 walls still stand. Even less that the 3 I had seen on pictures... :( And with the ruins of the castle it's even more dramatic (from which I knew there were no standing walls)...
Then I tried to approach the hash. And... yes... it was difficult. There were indeed steep slopes and underneath a sea of thorns.. the pictures I took make no justice to the reality, it's not easy to get a good perspective.
On my first attempt, from the path, I got to 26m of the hash. Then I tried get further away but trying to find a way to get down easily. While doing so I scared of what probably was a big wild board. I only heard it flee but it made quite a fuss. Better for me if it runs in the opposite direction, not gonna lie. But this approach also ended up being unfruitful.
I then went back and just directly followed the line separating me from the hash. And... well I got close. I didn't have the most suitable shoes for this terrain but I ended up 11 meters close of the hash! However, it was like 15m underneath of me (so you get an idea of how steep it was). From there I had a good perspective and it was clear that an approach from any other direction would be futile since the area was covered in brambles and thorns.
Studying the terrain I got the feel that I could try getting even closer but it didn't feel safe. I also had the feeling that even getting closer I still wouldn't be reaching the hash, maybe 5 meters from it. Then I could had maybe claimed uncertainty of the GPSr, but it wouldn't have felt right. I got satisfied with the 11m the GPSr was showing me.
I then biked searching for a few geocaches on the area and at dusk got back home.
