I considered going to 2023-10-20 54 11: It seems like a nice spot near the Baltic Sea and in a part of Mecklenburg that I haven't been to before. It is also very close to the Lehrpfad der unholdigen Personen, the educational path of wicked people, which I would like to visit.

But that will have to wait, since a potentially historic storm surge is threatening the Baltic coast, so I am opting for Bielefeld as a less wet alternative, which is saying something, since it is supposed to rain all day.

Expedition

In the late morning, I took the train to Bielefeld, the tram to Ziegelstraße, and walked the rest of the distance.

The weather report was right, it rained in Bielefeld. Quite a bit actually. Not that it had been better in Osnabrück, or anywhere else I had checked. One of the first things I noticed after entering the forest was that the Finkenbach stream, running parallel to the path I was taking, seemed unusually full. I did not know what it looks like usually, but I was guessing that it usually is less wide.

The Finkenbach parted ways with my path after a while, but soon afterwards, it seemed to have returned. Only that the water did not appear to flow all that much... is this even the stream, or a large puddle? Checking a map told me that this was supposed to be an older, smaller branch of the stream, but it really looked like this part of the forest was just flooded. The Geohash was quite close at this point, and I was hoping that the coordinates would not fall into the flooded area.

Luckily, they did not fall into the flooded area, but they was not very far away from it either. The Dance™ took a while, I wasn't getting the greastest accuracy, and the rain made it difficult to operate my phone. In the end, I got an okay reading though, with relatively low accuracy, but since I had been walking all over the place, I was sure that I had reached the coordinates.

After recording proof, I walked to the Schüco station, took the tram to Bielefeld Central and the train via Löhne back home to Osnabrück.
