Bus from Luckenwalde. Bus 770 is the main route between Luckenwalde and Zossen but runs infrequently; the best way to get less than an hour in the hash area is to take the single daily trip of bus 796, operated by a different company along the same route.

Expedition

I departed Berlin Hbf one train earlier than would have been necessary to catch the 796. This gave me time for a quick lunch in Luckenwalde. Then rather than catch the bus at the train station, I walked only slightly farther to Luckenwalde/Zinnaer Str. to buy an extra 10 minutes. The bus turned out to be full of schoolchildren, so I had to stand for the 20-minute trip through some nice forests (with occasional snow patches on the ground) and a few towns.

I followed a couple of the students off the bus at Kummersdorf Gut/Siedlung and walked through the quiet streets to the northeast corner. There was a fence around the sports field, but the path and forest were open. After a short dance I was on the point.

That left 40 minutes to keep warm until the next 770 bus back: scheduled at 15:01, soon shown by DB to be expected at 15:03. I explored most of the residential streets, visited the playground and cemetery, then finally crossed the highway to a bike path. At 14:59 I neared the bus stop and looked back to see the bus arriving early! I waved and jogged a bit and fortunately made it on board and back to Luckenwalde. Then a warm drink and a train back to Berlin under a colorful sunset.
