From Geohashing

Road closed for toad migration? That's even better than the Giant Sequoias. And Giant Sequoias are a good story, too. Great geohash. -Robyn 05:27, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

We don't have fancy animals in Germany like those Australians. Also no bears, wolves or moose like you Canadians. We are proud of our precious toads, and we protect them. --Ilpadre 07:52, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, they do migrate in significant numbers towards the same body of water every year.. and they're not the quickest ones to cross a road. You can imagine the carnage. Other protection measures include toad tunnels below the road and toad fences alongside the road - the fences end in buckets, which are then carried across the road by volunteers. -- relet 09:43, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Why did the toad cross the road? To get to the other side! (And they taste just like chicken!) Dtobias 16:43, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Which sign is the one about the toads? I'm imagining that Krötenwanderung means "toads wandering," but I doubt it's as simple as that. Kröt would be a good word for toad, though. I can see a big German toad saying "kröt, kröt!" -24.83.1.77 18:22, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
You guessed right. Kröte = toad, Wanderung = wandering, hike, migration; so Krötenwanderung = toad migration. That sign actually only explains the road closure which is given by the red circle sign to the left. There is further explanation on the small paper sign to the left (not readable on the photo, sorry). The signs on the fixed post to the right have nothing to do with it. --Ekorren 18:32, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
