I'm Lelani. I have loved maps and knowing where I am on the planet since I was a teen and got lost with my mom and sister in some Colorado wilderness. So when I stumbled on geohashing I KNEW it was for me. And it gave me an excuse to buy a GPS unit, which I've wanted forever, just never had a good enough reason to spend the money.

I used to live in rural British Columbia, in the Grand Cache graticule. It includes (IMHO) one of the most awesome mountains in the world, which I blamed for my being there.

Now I live in Sointula, BC and my partner has a boat and we are trying out geohashing again. On the boat. Great fun!

hahah first success: 2012-03-04 53 -119. Should have just used my compass, would have done better.

And second: 2012-04-03 52 -119. Many trucks and a random hitchhiker :-)

Third: 2012-04-18 53 -120. In honour of my mother's 81st birthday today. Fewer trucks.

Fourth: 2016-06-28 50 -126. First adventure on the boat. Best time ever!

Achievements

dunstergirl earned the Regional geohashing achievement by reaching a hash point in all 3 graticules belonging to the Robson Valley.

Regions don't always correspond to official political divisions, but to how locals and geography define them. We are separated by mountains and rivers from everywhere else, so I believe I have completed the Robson Valley (all virgin) tho would like to have Jasper on board to be sure.

dunstergirl earned the Land geohash achievement by reaching the (53, -119) geohash on 2012-03-04.

dunstergirl earned the Graticule Unlocked Achievement by being the first to reach any hashpoint in the (52, -119) graticule, here, on 2012-04-03.

dunstergirl earned the Land geohash achievement by reaching the (52, -119) geohash on 2012-04-03.

dunstergirl earned the Déjà Vu Geohash Achievement by reaching the (52, -119) geohash on 2012-04-03, and previously on 2012-03-20 In a whiteout. Turned the GPS off but my kid could sign an affidavit. And many, many times before this as well..

dunstergirl earned the Graticule Unlocked Achievement by being the first to reach any hashpoint in the (53, -120) graticule, here, on 2012-04-18.

dunstergirl earned the Déjà Vu Geohash Achievement by reaching the (53, -120) geohash on 2012-04-18, and previously on first time in 1986. Again in 1989. And thousands of times now since 1993. No proof except it's the road to town, and back..
