I'm a Nathan, a recent college grad who just moved to the Twin Cities area from the Portland, OR area. I'd been thinking about geohashing for some time, but never seemed to get to it. Now, it's the prefect excuse to go exploring somewhere I've never been.

I live in the North portion of the St. Paul SE graticule, but expect to head out to other neighboring graticules, depending on which is closest.

I don't have a GPS yet, so for now I'm relying on aerial photography and maps.

Successful

• 2009-12-05 45 -92 After a few hours of exploring and half-hearted scouting for a DARPA Balloon, I made my first geohash in a field next to Mahtomedi Middle School.

Unsuccessful

• 2010-01-20 44 -92 Private Property.
• 2009-12-19 44 -92 Came withing 500 feet of the hash, but I forgot to bring the map, so I walked in the wrong direction. Apparently, I also missed meeting Aaron by only a few minutes.

Achievements

Nathan earned the No trespassing consolation prize by almost reaching the (44, -92) geohash on 2010-01-20.

Nathan earned the Blinded by Science Consolation Prize by failing to reach the (44, -92) geohash on 2009-12-19 because he forgot to print the map with the hashpoint marked on it.

Nathan earned the Admit One Achievement by paying $5 to access the (44, -92) geohash at Afton State Park on 2009-12-19.

Nathan earned the Land geohash achievement by reaching the (45, -92) geohash on 2009-12-05.
