Graphpokes

To have the Graph updated, please check this box: [x]

The graph relies on User:relet's follow script for activity (node size/saturation) and average location (color). Relet's source which is currently not working. I lack the motivation to add a fallback to my graph script right now. Sorry.
I could hand the (very messy) python script over to someone else to adapt it to find activity data elsewhere. --Hijackal (talk) 12:46, 23 February 2014 (EST)
Well I am interested - messy or not (I've seen it all in several languages, trust me). I'm not promising anything though, my last attempt to look at the pymediawikibot stuff failed miserably due to the lack of python. So it might just lay around untouched for a while. I'm willing to give it another go though, it's just a matter of time. ;) - Mampfred (talk) 08:17, 24 February 2014 (EST)
Any update on this? -Haberdasher (talk) 11:24, 6 July 2014 (EDT)
Years later, I've fixed parsing without relet, and fixed rendering with sfdp. There is a new graph. Unless Until my fragile sfdp breaks, I can quickly generate graphs again. --Hijackal (talk) 12:26, 15 November 2015 (EST)
Thank you so much, this is awesome!! I checked my little corner of the network, saw one hiccup which I went and fixed in the list (Dolphintreasure had a double identity as DolphinTreasure as well, giving her two nodes) so next time you run it, it will be fixed in the graph. Nice work! -- OtherJack (talk) 12:51, 15 November 2015 (EST)
I also just started going back through expeditions, finding meetups or geohash teams and adding them to the list if they're not already there. Reached 2015-09-01 so far, found a few and added them. See the Meetup Graph history page -- OtherJack (talk) 13:52, 15 November 2015 (EST)

All right, I think I finally have a stable list of meetups put together... went all the way back to 2015-04-30 (a month before the last update of the old graph) to catch any late-uploaders, and also deleted a few nodes I added during this process which later turned out to be non-users. (If you click on a "user" redlink and it gives a big red warning message above the edit box, that is a non-user. See discussion on my talk page.) Anyway, feel free to run your code again. After this the list will hopefully be updated more regularly. Thanks again for bringing this back. -- OtherJack (talk) 01:45, 21 November 2015 (EST)

Has the graph been regenerated lately? NWoodruff and I had a meetup in September 2016 and I updated the list accordingly, but the little box up there was already checked. I just looked at the graph again, and I don't see that connection yet. --Million zillion (talk) 05:06, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

Hijackal is being very irregular at updating the graph, and at hashing, sorry. There is a new graph today -- and the last one wasn't even one year old! --Hijackal (talk) 20:54, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
Thank you, I also got quite irregular at hashing over the last year or so... this inspires me to update my profile and start checking coordinates again soon. -- OtherJack (talk) 23:49, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
and also to go back through the almost-year since the last edit and update the meetups. Found four new teams and duly added them, no big graph-connecting meetups though... -- OtherJack (talk) 03:22, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

Script

Is your python-script, which calculates the distance to the nearest hash, available for download? I'm to lazy to write my own ;) --Flopp (talk) 03:49, 23 May 2013 (EDT)

No, but I could make it available. It's not on this machine, though, I'll try to remember to upload it somwhere when I'm at home.
I don't use it anymore, because the black forest makes pure distance a bad indicator of hashability. Have you seen Relet's and Eupeodes' online maps? They are what I use these days. Btw: How about a meetup on Mouseover Day? :) --Hijackal (talk) 10:20, 23 May 2013 (EDT)

Prepare your troops, I intend to invade your territory on Sunday.

You wouldn't happen to have time for a meetup? I'd love to learn juggling (if you're really patient, since I'm completetly untalented). --Calamus 19:50, 25 January 2013 (EST)

Username change in meetup graph

Hey Hijackal, I made a new account and changed my username across the wiki, including in the Meetup graph page. I hope this doesn't break anything. Perhaps you can update the graph when you have time? --CO2 (talk) 16:04, 7 March 2014 (EST)

Globalhash Alert

On Monday, 2016-04-18 global there's a globalhash at 46.917574, 5.554271 in the graticule next to your's. It's 18 km from 2016-04-18 46 5. --Sourcerer (talk) 14:35, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the poke - I saw it, but it was a busy Monday and even though it was close for a geohash, it would have been at least 4 hours (one-way) for me... --Hijackal (talk) 07:38, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
