Hey there! You should have let us here at 52, -1 know you were coming to 2010-06-20 52 -1. I looked at it and decided I couldn't be bothered, but if I'd have known someone else might be going... :-P
Never mind. Maybe see you another time. --Joehardflec 20:22, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Joe. I wasn't sure when I'd be leaving the Midlands to aim for my hashes, and didn't really have much time to hang around - I got back to Norwich late enough as it was with 4 stops for hashes! Mostly I don't have time/can't be bothered to edit meetup pages before attempting a hash - there are almost no other active hashers in my home graticule so it hardly seems worth it. I usually click on the map pin for the hash on http://irc.peeron.com/xkcd/map/ and select "Yes" if I'm going to attempt one tho. Next time I venture west again I'll remember to give you guys a shout. Happy hashing :-) --MagicIan 21:35, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- But do let me know if you ever plan to come to the Cambridge graticule and have time to stop for five minutes. At the moment I don't tend to make it very far from Cambridge itself, but would certainly try to do so for a meetup. After I take my finals in October I should have more time for hashing and if we haven't met by then, I'll try to get over towards Norwich occasionally. See you around! -- Benjw 15:21, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Sourcerer (Neil) says Wednesday 25th August is a real challenge! The hash is in a wetland. I'm not sure how wet. Sadly I have to go to Ipswich so my day is spoiled. Access from the nearest public footpath would involve a swim and a muddy wade. The larger channel is navigable with small broads boats.
- Thanks for the heads-up - it does look a good one! I'll see what the weather is doing tomorrow evening. If it's nice I'll take my kayak - park up at the Horsey Windpump and paddle due west into the channels. Following thru it looks as tho one little portage would get me to within 30 meters. I have a spare kayak if you'll be back from Ipswich before sunset... --MagicIan 22:46, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not aiming for the drowned rat achievement so forget the second kayak. Now if there happens to be fine weather pub geohash near a broad, that's another matter.
- Yeah, the weather is pants so I'm not going to bother today. Might do it as a retro-hash this weekend depending on what the coordinates are like for the other days. --MagicIan 19:22, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Sourcerer (Neil) says Monday 13th September is interesting. It's almost certainly in the grounds of Banham Zoo and perhaps the hashpoint is in a tiger enclosure. Sadly, Neil has to work and will not find out.
- I was also working during the zoo's opening hours - would've been a good admit one geohash otherwise. Incidentally, I attempted the hash for Wednesday 25th August on the Monday of the following week and got within a few meters in my kayak, but didn't fancy wading thru some murkey water with reeds everywhere around to get the actual coordinates. --MagicIan 13:10, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
Sourcerer Neil says 2010-09-25 52 1 is an interesting hash.
- Not sure it's quite swimming weather today if I'm honest, but cheers for the heads up. Yesterday's was a notable hash - not so much in 52 1, but in 51 1 as it *was* a virgin graticule and the coordinates were on land for once. I'll post the report in a bit... --MagicIan 12:53, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- I should've looked before I made that last post - you're a couple of steps ahead of me both days! Congrats on the virgin graticule yesterday - you made it a few hours before me - how random is that‽ I don't know if this means you can add the earliest geohasher ribbon too as it wasn't technically a meetup... Anyway you look like you've got it sorted with the tide tables for today too - impressive stuff. I still don't reckon I'll make it down, but you could always wait until the tide comes in and bag yourself an underwater geohash too and make it a really impressive couple of days :-) --MagicIan 13:10, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- I expect you've checked the Norwich page by now but I chickened out because of mother nature / stormy seas. I put the ribbons on my page to avoid too much clutter on the Norwich page. In better weather I'd have gone for it even if it was under water. I should have left a marker for 51 1 but I assumed no one else would be mad enough to waste their Friday night like that. How wrong I was.

Sourcerer Neil asks: There are about six broken links to users on the Norwich graticule page. Do inactive users get deleted off the wiki? Should we delete these links?
- It's a wiki, so feel free to edit it. :-) If someone doesn't like their name being removed, they will come along and put it back again. Probably, most of those names have been there since 2008 and have not been since again since, so go ahead and remove them. You might also like to consider moving any stuff that's older than, say, the beginning of the current year to an 'archive' page. I've done this for Cambridge if you want a look there. — Benjw [talk] 08:42, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Geohashing Day Invitation
All geohashers are cordially invited to the 10th anniversary 2018 geohashing day meetup in the Cambridge UK graticule.
- 21 May 2018 (Mon): An excellent celebration of Geohashing Day will take place at 4pm local time at a place yet to be determined.
- 26 May 2018 (Sat): is Mouse Over Day and might be more convenient so the invitation applies to this day too.

Have you still got your kayak? --Sourcerer (talk) 09:01, 14 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, and thanks for the invite to the Geohashing Day. I have still got the kayak, and already have plans to go out in the morning of the 21st.
- Not sure of plans for the rest of the day - will depend on the girlfriend. She's very into her Geocaching, but hasn't reciprocated her keenness when I've suggested Geohashing.
- But I've been thinking for a while I could try and get the Drag Along achievement, and this would be a good excuse. We'll see... --MagicIan 22:53, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
