Psud, you're eligible for this award for the Kambah hash. Joannac 05:58, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Is there a particular reason you took down the historical lists from amipsychic.net? I was using them for my Google Maps Script. --Hermann 13:48, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! --Hermann 16:33, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

For your information: There is a hole (I mean a needles newline) in the W30-data:

2009-03-09,6595.16,0.6171403283710879,0.2402096122688408

Problems with Geohashing historical data

Hello, I've been using your Geohashing data for my KML Generator, but I noticed some discrepancies with the data. I wrote a script to analyse it (I used the non-W30 coordinates) and here are the results:

  • empty line after 2008-12-02
  • 2008-12-26 skipped days since 2008-12-24
  • 2009-01-02 skipped days since 2008-12-31
  • 2009-02-17 skipped days since 2009-02-15
  • empty line after 2009-03-08
  • 2009-04-13 skipped days since 2009-04-09
  • 2009-05-26 skipped days since 2009-05-24
  • 2009-06-04 skipped days since 2009-06-02
  • 2009-07-06 skipped days since 2009-07-02

If you could take a look and see if they can be fixed, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your hard work! --Wenslayer 04:01, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Fixed --Psud 14:19, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! --Wenslayer 21:57, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
The coordinates for 2009-04-11 to 2009-04-13 (including) are still off the reference. Peeron uses the DIJA value of 7839.89 from 2009-04-10. Did not check the others. --Hermann 16:20, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
BTW, here is the verification script: verify_coord_data.pl. --Wenslayer 23:56, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Update 21:04, 31 May 2010 (UTC): Hello Psud, running my verify_coord_data.pl script today against your data, I see the following problems:

$ wget -qO - http://www.amipsychic.net/coords/allcoords.csv.bz2 |
   bzip2 -d | ./verify_coord_data.pl

Update 01 Nov 2013 (UTC): Hi Psud. Albeit you don't seem to be active in the wiki any more, I have a request. I recently noticed that your service providing historical coordinates stopped being updated in 2011. In case you lost interest in Geohashing, could you please send me the sources so I can fiddle around with them? I still want to see which places I missed in other graticules from time to time. Kind regards --Hermann (talk) 11:55, 1 November 2013 (EDT)

How unfortunate. :( A server fault is annoying enough, let alone the following backup hustle. In case you find time to reinstitue the service or stumble across the sources, I'd be glad to make use of them. But I don't want to bug you further, geohashing (and the corresponding technerd activities) should stay a fun thing for every player. :) --Hermann (talk) 10:31, 3 November 2013 (EST)
Hooray for the coordinate historian! Thank you very much for putting up the service again. Also for the script. I don't really know perl, but your code shows me that perl scripts don't actually need to look like totally incomprehensible gibberish. :D --Hermann (talk) 05:20, 6 November 2013 (EST)

Yo yo yo! I'll be in Canberra this weekend, let me know if you mount an expedition, I'd love to come along :-) --Kieran 02:50, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
