Plans
The hashpoint can be easily reached with a 700 meter walk from the light rail stop Linkenheim Rathaus. Important for the midnight geohash, the last train to karlsruhe left at 0:53. I arrived at the stop at 23:45 on the previous day in order to arrive at midnight.

As this hashpoint was easy to reach, I decided to do another midnight geohash. I looked up train connections and left my home at 22:40 and took tram 5 from Rintheim (where I live) to Karlsruhe Marktplatz (Market).. The city was not too crowded, after all it was 23:00 on a weekday night, After waiting 10 minutes, I entered the S11 to Hochstetten, 16 kilometers or 34 minutes later, I arrived at Linkenheim Rathaus (City Hall)
Surprisingly many people got off the train there; I walked along the Kaiserstraße, 700 meters to the Hashpoint, which was located at a roundabout. I arrived there at 23:50 and found the exact spot by 23:57. While searching the spot, the cat walked by, but didn't seem ro be willing to stay until midnight.
As the area was rather poorly lit, I tried to take a few pictures with my camera's flash. At midnight, I screencap'd the GPS, coordinates reached. After that, I placed the xkcd-marker and my hashscot and started documenting them. While I was trying to get a closeup of the marker, the cat came back and walked right in front of the camera.
As I had plenty of time left since the next (and last) train to Karlsruhe went, I stayed at the hashpoint and reported these events in the IRC channel. After that, a somewhat drunk man cycled by and asked my what I was doing. I tried to explain geohashing to him, but he didn't believe me.
Then, I went back to the stop Linkenheim Rathaus. The last train to Karlsruhe would leave at 0:53 (as it was a weekday night, on weekends trains run through the whole night). Tried to take a few photos at the stop, but that didn't work too well. However, wikipedia has a daylight photo of the stop.
Then, at 0:53, the S1 arrived and brought me to Karlsruhe Marktplatz by 1:30, for the first night-tram/-bus meetup, from where I took the S2 home.
