Expedition

Powell Butte is an extinct volcano, one of several in the charmingly named "Boring Lava Field." As such it is pretty steep sided, so although the linear distance from the nearest parking area to the hash point was not far, it turned out to be a pretty brisk and muddy walk for the lunch hour. If I had started to slide on any of the muddy paths, it would have been an embarrassing trip back to the office. But I didn't!

I reached the hash during one of the few sunbreaks in recent weeks, and enjoyed a peaceful little island of trees and nature out in the middle of the mid-county residential neighborhoods.
