Location

A short bushwhack from a logging road between Dewdney Trunk Road and Alouette Lake. Quality of the logging road is unknown. It appears to be open. There is a small chance that the road will be gated, but it's only a 4 km walk from known good roads.

Participants

Plans

Everyone who intends to come, please indicate here whether you need or can offer a ride, and any time constraints.

Unfortunately 16:30 at Yaletown station is a bit too early for me to meet with the downtown group. Could I join Elbie and Robyn for the 19:00 at UBC group? Whereabouts at UBC would we be meeting? Also, I have the restriction that I have to be home that night, as in I can't participate in a camping hash, if that's still planned. -Srs0 15:10, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Elbie can't attend, so I was going to go earlier, but don't want to leave anyone behind. What's the earliest you can go, srs0?
I have work until 17:00, so the earliest I feel comfortable leaving is 16:00. Then, accounting for a quick stop at home to get the essentials, I'm guessing I'd be able to make it back to UBC by 17:30. Or, alternatively, I could meet at a closer point to my house at around 17:00 (as I guess the limitation of meeting at UBC is no longer there). However, I don't want to inconvenience you if you're planning to leave at 14:00, so I can transit to the closest point and then someone can meet me there? Either works with me, I just don't want to be too much of a burden. -Srs0 15:58, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Can you make it to meet Yangman? If so I can go with the Rhonda car and leave mine at home. -Robyn 16:17, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
According to Translink, I can probably reach Lougheed Town Center skytrain station at around 18:00-18:15. That's 45-60 minutes later than Yangman was planning, but I don't know how flexible he is. If anyone has his contact info (or is on the geohashing channel and he is too), maybe they could ask? -Srs0 16:25, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Definitely flexible if the group is willing to wait. You can find me on IRC to work out details. -Yangman 16:34, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Vehicle 1 (Rhonda)

  • Rhonda and pi meet at waterfront station at 16:10
  • Travel via Canada line Skytrain to Yaletown station, near the car
  • Leaves downtown at 16:30
  • Contains: Rhonda, pi, Xore, Wade, one more?

Vehicle 2 (Robyn)

  • Leaves Vancouver 14:00. Time subject to negotiation. Will park at the first sign of ruggedness on the road, and walk the rest of the way.
  • Contains: Robyn, room for three others
  • If no other takers listed on the wiki by 13:30, and there is still a place in another car, Robyn will join them and not bring her car.

Vehicle 3 (Yang)

  • Leaves Lougheed Town Center area around 17:15. Would preferably leave vehicle near entrance to logging road and hike the 4.5km or so to the point.
  • Contains: Yang, room for 4 others

Bring

  • Sturdy boots
  • Raingear
  • Flashlight
  • Celebratory items
  • Mugs (yangman will bring a camping stove, and ingredients for hot chocolate)
