Expedition
Neil reached the vicinity at about 23:40 on new year's eve in 2010. He parked in a side road and set off walking. At first the field perimeter was grassy and only slightly damp. Later the perimeter was overgrown but he found tractor tracks. These were very soft and wet so with feet sinking to ankle depth in cold mud Neil struggled towards the hashpoint. There was a lot of evidence for partying. Intermittent fireworks could be seen shooting skywards. There were lots of candle-powered hot-air paper-balloons crossing the sky. Very pretty! The route, close to the A14 trunk road, might have been noisy but there was little traffic. At about 23:59, Neil made his final approach across the mud. He reached the hashpoint at exactly midnight, celebrated by a renewed burst of fireworks. He therefore claims the first 2011 UK geohash (in the GMT time zone). Was anyone else mad enough to be out at this time?
