Calgary, Alberta, is a split city. It is centered on 51°N, 114°W, and therefore split into four graticules.
Contents
Geography of the four quadrants
According to the [1], the 51°N circle of latitude passes along 59th or 60th Avenue S. 114°W is represented by parts of Highway 2/Deerfoot Trail, Barlow Trail, Ogden Road, and 24 Street E.. The creatively-named Meridian Road runs just alongside Barlow. South of Fish Creek Park, the meridian roughly follows the Bow River.
The majority of the city, and the University, are in the NW quadrant, which encompasses Ghost Lake and reaches the edge of the mountains at its SW corner.
The SW quadrant reaches deep into the Kananaskis Country and over the continental divide into British Columbia.
The NE quadrant reaches the Badlands.
The SE quadrant contains the reaches of the Bow below Calgary, and extends as far east as Gleichen.
The northern quadrants extend as far north as Innisfail (most of the way to Red Deer), the southern ones as far south as Claresholm (most of the way to the latitude of Lethbridge).

Gylbert Algorithm solution to the split city problem
On the xkcd Blag, Gylbert suggested that each week, Calgarians look at all four locations and pick the location which is closest to exactly 51°N, 114°W. See the Gylbert Algorithm page for details.
Official Meetup
In accordance with the Main Page, the official meetup will be held every Saturday at 4pm Mountain Time.
