For years going back to when we were dating, my wife and I (and a couple friends in the early days) were weekly (or more) regulars at the Safe House. Over the last two years, we've drifted. This year, we've only been there a half dozen times or so.

I know that it's not within sight of the hashpoint, but since it was already on the agenda, I'm putting down on "honorary" [[Pub geohash|pub geohash]] for this trip. Our usual bartender was there and I've always been his guinea pig on new drinks. Tonight he made me a really nice drink full of taste and style. Picture below.

Plans

When I saw the coordinates this morning and saw how easy it was, I had to debate being late to work and hitting it during the day or asking if the wife wouldn't mind making a slight detour on our way to date night.

Being late was not a good idea, so I decided to take my chances with the night run.

Expedition

Leaving the house, I was pretty sure I could get a TRON achievement out of this if I played my cards right. Then we realized we needed to stop for pet supplies and within minutes I'd run into my own "jet wall" as it were.

After that, I didn't worry. We drove to the hashpoint and I popped out to take some pictures. Less than a block behind where I parked was a sitting police car. Part of me was hoping he'd come ask what I was doing so I could earn the police geohash... but most of me hoped he'd stay put.

I thought it was odd that this small strip of grass had a "No Trespassing" sign, but I only needed to walk a few feet in and back out. I even snapped a picture of me with the sign.

After that, we continued back on our way to our date night for dinner.

For years going back to when we were dating, my wife and I (and a couple friends in the early days) were weekly (or more) regulars at the Safe House. Over the last two years, we've drifted. This year, we've only been there a half dozen times or so.

I know that it's not within sight of the hashpoint, but since it was already on the agenda, I'm putting down on "honorary" pub geohash for this trip. In fact, I have a daily web script that sends me emails if the day's hashpoint is within certain distances of my life's landmarks and today's was based on this place. Our usual bartender was there and I've always been his guinea pig on new drinks. Tonight he made me a really nice drink full of taste and style. Picture below.
