Going round to clean out the new report categories. I found your report and decided you'd agreed on 'not reached'. But I gave you proze poultry instead! 12:07, 2 June 2013 (EDT)

Hello and welcome from the other Cambridge. I'll be out on my bike for a 4pm meetup as well. Hope you get your hash today and have a fun time doing it! — Benjw  {talk} 08:38, 15 September 2012 (EDT)

Hi, and thanks for the warm welcome. I hope your hash went well too, mine was quite fun although I didn't quite reach it as I didn't feel like trespassing into someone else's yard. Knyx 17:50, 15 September 2012 (EDT)
Thanks. Mine went well; it was a sunny day and a nice ride, although I wasn't too keen on the headwind all the way home! Sorry you didn't reach yours -- how far away were you? If you'd like to write an expedition report anyway, we'd all be keen to read it. Anyway, good luck for the next one, whenever that turns out to be. — Benjw  {talk} 06:23, 16 September 2012 (EDT)
My expedition report is written and up (2012-09-15 42 -71). I am wondering if you would count it as a successful expedition, and if not whether get the badges for it (ex. Bike geohash). Knyx 15:27, 16 September 2012 (EDT)
Awkward one. The 'official' line (as much as we actually have one) is that if you're within the bounds of your GPS's error circle, then you can count it as reached, but personally, I'd say that if I knew in advance that it was as much as 16 metres into someone's yard, then I'd count it as Not Reached if I stayed on the street. But some probably would count it. Go with what your conscience tells you.  :-) As for the achievements, most of them really only count if you actually reach the point, but you might like to investigate the Radio Yerevan ribbon which you can tailor to any achievements you almost got. — Benjw  {talk} 18:09, 16 September 2012 (EDT)
Thinking about it, it's obvious you could have reached the exact spot if you'd tried. So maybe go ahead and count it as reached -- you probably get a little lee-way on your first few tries, anyway!  :-) — Benjw  {talk} 00:38, 19 September 2012 (EDT)
I was thinking to not count it, as crossing onto private property is against geohashing rules, and we may not have been successful if we asked. Also, we actively made the choice not to attempt the last bit. Knyx 16:49, 19 September 2012 (EDT)
Ok, that sounds reasonable. Just as long as it doesn't put you off doing more! — Benjw  {talk} 17:08, 19 September 2012 (EDT)
I wouldn't worry about that. The only thing that would would be the fact that they so rarely line up to where I need them to on weekends.
Sod's Law. If you've got a whole day and nothing to do, the hashpoint is a hundred miles away in a lake. I've been doing it on and off for nearly four years and I've made it to three Saturday meetups. — Benjw  {talk} 18:25, 20 September 2012 (EDT)

Hey! I don't know if I'm adding this comment correctly, but I'd like to say that I saw your Geohash marker! The sticky note with red marker on it, that is. The reason I saw the notice is because me and my friends walk past the street every day while walking home from school, as we all read XKCD this was a special treat to us. So here's hello, and nice job! Gnayiag
