Expedition
The Plan
On East Bay Street in downtown Jacksonville on the waterfront, half a mile east of Jacksonville Landing, roughly a mile west of EverBank Field where the Jacksonville Jaguars play. Not sure if we want to try for a Tron achievement or stop and take a look around.
The Geohashers
The Adventure
I got back late from work, but it was a close geohash, so when has that ever stopped me? Got back into the car at 6:30 and headed off for downtown Jacksonville. Fun fact: After sixteen months of living here, I still never bothered to go to downtown Jacksonville. Just wasn't all that interested. New excuse!
We arrived fifteen minutes later with a plan and we were both really surprised at the lack of traffic - lots of cars parked in the street, but traffic was minimal at best. The plan at that point was to swing around the geohash, then go for a speed racer in the proper lane. There was a bit of a concern when we didn't see a speed limit sign, but decided what the hell, let's floor it. Hash reached!
At that point, we pulled off to the side closer to the waterfront, parked the car, and placed the Queen of Hearts on a tree near the waterfront. It wasn't really close to the geohash, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather put it somewhere so people can see it rather than go for accuracy.
We stayed and had dinner at Jacksonville Landing, and the view is great at dusk. We took more than our fair share of pictures, most of which didn't quite turn out too well at night, before heading back home.
