Plans

This is easy!! I'll say 4pm by default but could do other times as well, especially if someone figures out when soccer matches aren't using the pitch. I'll probably just run or walk there from home. Forecast is partly sunny, 50s, no rain... -- OtherJack (talk) 15:56, 19 April 2013 (EDT)

I'll drive almost 300 miles for this geohash - but can't say for certain when I will be there. Going to do a Holy Hash beforehand in Spokane. Will use geohashdroid to give an estimate before I leave. --Thomcat (talk) 20:56, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
Cool, don't worry about going for 4 specifically... somewhat later (5 or 6) might even work better for me. -- OtherJack (talk) 01:09, 21 April 2013 (EDT)

Expedition (Thomcat)

I started Sunday the 21st off with a visit to a Holy Hash at midnight. Then I crashed at a less-than-holy Motel 6 (actually, the words "Gawd Awful" were heard more than once). In the morning, breakfast at the bottom of the hill and then hit the road. I abused Geohashdroid to post to this page to let OtherJack know I was going to make 4:00 easy enough.

I arrived at the field in question at 4:05 pm, after dropping all the luggage at the house and grabbing a quick bite. Looking at the odometer, I had rolled just past 300 miles for the trip between geohashes, interrupted only by bed, breakfast and a b-word indicating the dropping off of luggage and family (b-livery? Bleh!) I also called OtherJack to let him know I was on the way.

Arrived at the field; no game on, but a few kids were practicing Lacrosse. I know nothing of this sport, but apparently it uses a smaller field than soccer. This means the goal was unused, and I could hash dance to my heart's content.

Snapped a few photos of the field grounds, including one with the phone for geohashdroid upload. In the process of that upload... the phone rang. My apparently single-tasking Android allowed me to chat with Jack (on his way, should make it after 4:30) and then returned to the upload. The file upload made it, but the page edits were clearly lost - though GeohashDroid indicated they were not. Minor problem, I will add it to the gallery now.

Jack arrived, we snapped some more photos, and then I departed for the unpacking of the previous B-load of luggage. One day, two successful geohashes, sixteen hours apart. Huzzah!

Expedition (OtherJack)

In First Hill, I got out of the excellent concert I'd just seen and checked the bus timing to decide whether this would be a Public transport geohash or a Walk geohash, only to find a message from Thom asking me where I was. I called him back to find out he was already at the hash, but he was kind enough to wait the >30 minutes it took me to make it over there on the bus. When I arrived and started doing the hashdance, there were a few soccer players practicing but didn't look like much. Thom matter-of-factly said something like "The game starts at 5." "What time is it now?" I asked. "4:58." Realizing how lucky I'd gotten, I quickly ceased my gps shot attempts and got off the pitch, which is why my proof photo sucks so much. We caught up for a bit and then Thom headed home.

I stuck around until kickoff (somewhat after 5) and then took the opportunity to walk home on a very nice afternoon through the Seattle Pacific University campus, Fremont, and the boundary of the Woodland Park Zoo.

This was my first time ever in west Queen Anne, as far as I know.
