It seems that in my area, the explosion of interest in geohashing has sadly died down. Incredibly, I seem to be the only person who lives in this area who still geohashes! (There are a handful of other geohashers who live 2-3 graticules away, but sadly, no recent activity from anybody else living in the Triangle area of North Carolina). I hope to change that by getting some of my friends into this, and maybe the word will spread, leading to a Geohashing Renaissance in central NC. Fingers crossed...

Hi! My name is Dave and I live in south Durham, NC, in the Raleigh (35, -78) graticule.

I heard about geohashing back when it started, and have been itching to try it ever since. 5 years later, my wife is on board, and we just started geohashing together. Our plan is to try and geohash once a week*, usually on the weekends. I also keep my eye out during the week for any easily reachable hashes between Durham and Raleigh, where I work. We live conveniently near the northwest corner of the Raleigh graticule, which gives us our pick of 4 different hash points within a relatively short distance in the Greensboro, Henderson, Chapel Hill and Raleigh graticules. Lucky us!

*It was a noble plan, but sadly, we've been very busy lately, even on the weekends. We haven't given up, though! Hopefully we can still geohash from time to time. I'm also keeping my eyes out for easily reachable hashes on my way to/from work (i.e. between Durham and Raleigh), although these are fairly rare.
