Yes, this is definitely meant for the areas of high population density.  When there are more people per square mile, it follows that we should be able to get more local meet ups to work.  My method is just to establish where those meet ups might happen.

But even in less populated areas, people might sometimes like to meet up in a nearby urban center instead of unpopulated countryside.

Decicules

I agree with the reducing the oil consumption. That said, many more areas will be devoid of fans. Out west (Thomcat is in Seattle), we are all more spread out. Yes, we could all agree to meetup "downtown" each Saturday, but it's a trip for most of us either way, and we are all closest to a different "downtown".

On the plus side, it would be nice for the Saturday meetups to have some alternatives to choose from. About one fifth of our hashes have been offshore thus far.
