On the beach, Coney Island! Just at the water's edge

Plans

Finally, a reachable Brooklyn point... and it's in Coney Island of all places! AND on a day when a meetup group I'm part of is having an event there anyway. So I must do this. It will be a bike hash. 4pm by default but post if you have other ideas. But, I cannot make evening after 5:30, so I'm guessing that means Eli cannot coordinate with me... -- OtherJack (talk) 01:45, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

Expedition

This was one of my easiest geohash successes ever... I was already on the beach at Coney Island with friends, due to a completely independent plan. So as 4pm approached, all I had to do was just cue up the GPS and walk 1km due east along the beach on a beautiful early summer day, feet splashing in the temperate clean water, until I reached the spot. It was in the Russian part of the island, very close to the water, and not crowded at all, though still with plenty of people.

Since I biked from my house to Coney Island (and only walked that last 1km to the point) I'll give myself the bike ribbon... is this OK? And, this finally completes my goal of hashing all 5 boroughs of New York City.

After all of this, I went to an exhibit opening party at the City Reliquary in Williamsburg before cycling home.

PS (one week later): I just remembered about the Déjà Vu Geohash ribbon! I've definitely been to the point before, a bit over a year ago, when I and a friend decided to walk the whole length of the Coney Island shoreline on the beach. I have photos that are clearly due east and west of the spot. So I'm gonna claim it. Let me know if there are any issues.
