Plans
I will take a bus from Joensuu and walk about 1.2 kilometres to the geohash. I will have plenty of time before the returning bus arrives.
Expedition
12:44 – I cycled from my home to Joensuu market square and got on the bus at 12:19. Right now, I sit in the bus waiting until we get to my stop.
13:15 – The snowy views are beautiful, but taking good pictures with a crappy mobile phone camera in the moving bus is difficult. I will upload some of the more successful ones.
13:39 – I got off the bus at 13:37. I have an hour and ten minutes to get back to the bus stop. Off to the hashpoint!
14:42 – Mother Nature is my bitch! I reached the hashpoint at 14:01 and got back to the bus stop where I am now at about 14:35. During the last 150 metres or so, there was much more snow than I expected, up to 60 cm plus however much was compressed under my feet. I did not get any snow in my boots or clothes, which is nice. Of course, it was physically demanding, but the distance to traverse was not too long for me. I will upload more photos in the bus and at home.
15:02 – I got on the returning bus at 14:52. I had hoped that I could take more photos on the way back, but the sun has already set and it is getting dark fast. I previously missed a few spots worth photographing, and I would like to try again, but the mobile phone camera does not like any diminished daylight. I will try anyway and see what I can get.
15:14 – Shit, I seem to have lost a few photos, including those of the bus stop in the middle of nowhere. All crucial proof photos are safe though. The mobile phone camera has been acting weirdly today, so that may explain why some photos have not been saved in memory. And as I expected, it is too dark for taking any more photos unless there is plenty of artificial light.
