If trying to get the right timing as the GPS coordinates change at 75 mph isn't tricky enough, we had to keep kicking the GPS out of screen saver mode and get the camera to focus on the lit screen and then not move the two around while trying to time the right location. The GPS reads a tad bit to the west, but swerving and doing 75 mph on the shoulder of highway in the dark with other traffic didn't seem worthwhile (or smart). | + | Our first Speed Racer geohash. Would have been almost impossible, or at least very unsafe, to do this one solo. RoadRunner drove and tried to get other traffic to cooperate, while I fumbled with the camera and GPS. Next time I'll figure out how to get the speed displayed on the GPS screen as well. | Would have been almost impossible, or at least very unsafe, to do this one solo. Our first Speed Racer geohash. It isn't as easy as it seemed. Doing it after dark didn't help. If trying to get the right timing as the GPS coordinates change at 75 mph isn't tricky enough, we had to keep kicking the GPS out of screen saver mode and get the camera to focus on the lit screen and then not move the two around while trying to time the right location. Did I mention that the GPS batteries were dying and I had to memorize the coordinates because I couldn't read them from my note in the dark. The GPS reads a tad bit to the west, but swerving and doing 75 mph on the shoulder of highway in the dark with other traffic didn't seem worthwhile (or smart).
Would have been almost impossible, or at least very unsafe, to do this one solo. RoadRunner drove and tried to get other traffic to cooperate, while I fumbled with the camera and GPS. Next time I'll figure out how to get the speed displayed on the GPS screen as well.
No wine on this geohash ... not enough hands.
Wyle & RoadRunner earned the Speed racer achievement
