Location
on a disused field in Itzstedt, Schleswig-Holstein
Participants
Expedition
Only 4.5 km from the previous day's geohash, and just as easily reachable – of course I had to go for it. I took the same bus as the day before at the same time, but got off one town later, in Itzstedt. Then I cycled 2.3 km to the closest point to the hash on Korl-Barmstedt-Weg. From there, it was 370 m across a low fence, a meadow and a disused field until I reached the coordinates only 9 m from the edge. A group of roe deer fled, but kept watching me from a safe distance. I was pretty exposed, but nobody even passed on the cycle/hiking path.
I made my back across the very wet meadow, trying to avoid the many hidden puddles, and then cycled back 13.5 km exclusively on the straight former railroad track, which led right to my home. After 5 km, I arrived at the spot where I'd joined the same path yesterday. This expedition sure seemed like a copy of the last one. I even listened to the same music (Weird Al Yankovic, whose concert in Hamburg I attended two days later) and arrived home only a few minutes earlier than yesterday, though the distance was slightly longer – mostly because yesterday's strong headwind and rain, thankfully, did not return.
