Expedition One

Patrick checked the geohashes in the morning, as he is wont to do. Today’s geohash was very gettable from a not-breaking-the-law perspective. And, objectively, it was also very gettable from a “can it be done and will it take an insane amount of effort perspective” perspective. But it was far away and realistically Patrick is very lazy.

However, Patrick works with Conrad, who lives in Croydon, which is “five minutes by car” from the hashpoint. Today was an in-office day, so Patrick sidled up to Conrad and said “🌎#😏?”. Conrad is a normal person and does not speak emoji, so said “can you please repeat that using words appropriate in a professional context”. Patrick then said “Today’s geohash is very close to Croydon, you and Emma should go to it”. Conrad hedged bets, equivocated and made placating noises.

This did not worry Patrick at all, as he is very annoyingconvincing. Conrad attempted to escape a pub-based cajoling session by saying that he needed to leave no later by 4.30pm. Patrick counter-attacked by pointing out that happy hour started at 4pm, so a 4pm turbo-pint would be possible. Conrad foolishly agreed to this, and soon the gang was at the pub, and Patrick was using his best convincement-techniques.

As foreshadowed, Conrad left at 4.30pm. Would he indeed make the geohash? Who can know? The camera zooms in on Patrick’s face, looking hopeful but slightly forlorn, as he consumes his Pint of Aspiration. Fade to black.

Conrad at this time was getting his suit prepared for a wedding. The tailor was fast[citation needed] and efficient[citation needed], leaving plenty of time for geohashing. Conrad however resiled from his geohashing ambitions[citation needed][I wasn’t there, I’m guessing — P.W.C.]. However, Emma came to the rescue, and said: geohashing is our vocation[citation needed — you’re just making this up entirely now][nah mate all good — P.W.C.]. At this time, Patrick sent them a message saying “Chirnside Park! Do it do it do it”.

The intrepid team set off in their mode of conveyance[unclear, please revise] to Chirnside Park shopping centre. Their trip was full of trials, tribulations, and truly is the hero’s journey — a story of overcoming nearly unsurmountable adversity and discovering the depths of one’s character in the crucible of fire that is suburban roads at peak hour. However, that is a story for another day.

They arrived at the hashpoint, noting it’s “[i]n the middle of the car park road, but thankfully not many cars around”. They also saw “another car that pulled up and 2 guys got out but they seemed to have other interests”. The interests are, unfortunately, lost to time.
