Plans
A new graticule for me and a subdivision of Brandenburg to unlock! Train (hourly) and bike sounds nice. Weather forecast: 10C and windy, a nice change from last week's near-freezing temperatures.
Expedition
Late in the morning, I cycled to Berlin-Ostkreuz and caught an RE2 train for a 1 hour and 20 minute ride to Cottbus. I had a döner lunch inside the Cottbus station building, then set out riding.
Google Maps suggested the shortest route would involve the straight road heading south-southeast, incidentally along the #3 tram route. A section of this was closed for construction but the sidewalk was fortunately still open. I felt a bit of mist and noticed my ears getting cold. The final street, with the least comfortable brick bike lanes yet, passed through car dealerships before reaching a well-kept neighborhood.
The point was well within GPS accuracy of the outside of the fence. A car started nearby then drove off; above its place I then spotted a flag.
Garmin suggested a return route that mostly followed the #4 tram route. This turned out to be a bit more scenic. When I reached the station again there was still a while until the next train back to Berlin, so I crossed over the tracks and managed to just reach the edge of the old town. Back in the station building, I still had time for a hot drink before the train.
