About

This day's coordinates were in a driveway right in the city.

Expedition

excellentdude: I was excited to see that the day's coordinates were within the city, and when I zoomed in on the Google map they appeared to be easily accessible. While nearby, "easily accessible" may have been a stretch on this date. I entered my address to see exactly how far away the hash was. When I did, the public transport routing options came up. I ride the bus every day to the MSU campus, but I hadn't even considered using it here since the hash was on the opposite side of the city where I don't usually go. I studied the options and decided to use the bus and get a public transport geohash. I had to make two transfers going there and two more going back. The bus system isn't exactly speedy here if you have to change much. So, I ended up spending about 2.5 to 3 hours either on a bus or waiting for a bus (over twice as long as I was expecting).

Fortunately, there was a stop pretty close to the hash. I got off and proceeded several blocks down the street. I crossed to the opposite side of the street from the hash because that sidewalk was somewhat cleared off. When I got to the right latitude and had to cross to the other side of the street, I fell on the ice. I am usually surefooted and able to get right back up, but in this instance I was a classic blooper reel of fall down, get most of the way back up, fall down again, get a little back up, fall down again, and finally back up for good. Thankfully my iPhone was OK. There didn't appear to be anyone home, so I carefully and quickly walked up the driveway and got a GPS reading. Right as I did that, the snow picked up again. It started coming down pretty hard. I didn't have my thermometer, but I'm claiming frozen geohash on account of having pictures of it snowing.  :-)

Eventually, I got back home. To be continued...
