(Someone please delete this if it's an invasion of privacy)  According to Wikipedia, Sat. Oct. 17, along with being a special day for me and the husband, will be Randall Munroe's birthday, a good reason for everyone to get out and geohash.

Plans

"If you don't come geohashing with me tomorrow, I'll be the only person to do the wedding anniversary geohash without their spouse."

"But do you get a special award for that?" [for anniversary hash without spouse]

This hashpoint is about five minutes from Northampton, a college town a half hour north of Springfield where people from Springfield go to have a nice dinner. My husband and I weren't planning on celebrating our tenth anniversary tomorrow, but the extremely easy hashpoint gives us a great excuse.

Expedition

Speed racer. The hashpoint was right in the middle of a picturesque road of homes and farms. We didn't even slow down the car. I did see the GPS go to 0.0 distance, but couldn't get a good picture of it, because the flash kept reflecting off it.

After driving through the hashpoint twice, we went and had a pleasant childfree dinner at Cafe Esselon, very near the hashpoint.

Photos

It turns out there's no ribbon for geohashing on your wedding anniversary, but

Sara and her husband earned the Speed racer achievement
by passing through the (42, -72) geohash on 2009-10-17 at 30 mph.
