I started at home at 14:40 and took tram 4 and Stadtbahn S4 to the main station. I entered the main hall and saw that the train to Neustadt would leave in about 5 minutes. Unfortunately, Mo6eB and me didn't say where to meet each other, so after taking a short glimpse at the ticket machines without finding him, I hurried up to platform 102 to catch my train. To my surprise, a vintage diesel railcar was waiting on platform 101, a special weekend train to Bundenthal. It would leave about 15 minutes later, so since I had another train to catch in Wörth, I had to settle for the more modern class 624 railcar on track 102.  Too nad.

I didn't see Mo6eB inside the train either, so I got out in Wörth and entered the class 628 railcar to Bellheim, where I arrived at 15:35. Since the line Wörth-Germersheim will be converted to Stadtbahn (light rail) by the end of 2010, the station of Bellheim was already undergoing contruction, in fact this might be my last and only expedition by diesel train on this line, as the line will be closed in a few months for further construction works and buses will run until the Stadtbahn opening in December.

I walked though Bellheim, I had 25 minutes for the ~2 kilometers to the hashpoint to the 16:00 meetup. To save time, I walked past the town center and past a cemetery, past a small factory and eventually left the village and into the field paths. The GPS reached 90°, about 200 meters to go into a field. Luckily, there were tractor tracks. While walking through the field, 16:00 passed by, the hash was about 80 meters away, so in sight. I ended up on the other side of the field, walked about 40 meters along, then about 30 meters into the field again, again on tractor tracks, reaching the hashpoint after a short, rather onedimensional GPS dance (since I was bound to the tracks),

I placed a marker at the edge of the field, took photos and a [http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/7314884 video]. Next to the hashpoint was some sort of tree plantation and some wind turbines in the background. otherwise, your usual field geohash. The weather was great, sunny and warm and since I couldn'lt possible myke the 16:22 train back, I sat down and enjoyed the sun.

By 16:50, I left again and walked back to Bellheim. As I got back to the station, I found Mo6eB waiting at the platform. He said that he missed the train by a few minutes, took the next one and somehow took the wrong road and didn't reach the hashpoint. We both entered the train back to Wörth. In Wörth, the Regionalexpress back to Karlsruhe was run by a 218 diesel engine pushing Silberling cars, I wasn't aware these trains still run on the line to Neustadt. From Karlsruhe, we took a S1 to Marktplatz, from where I took a S2 back home, arriving by 18:20.

Bellheim is inside the KVV fare area, so the student ticket is valid there, so I won't be needing a ticket. One way trip would be 3,70€, full-day passes are probably more expensive than 2 single tickets. Koepfel talk 18:21, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Expedition Report

I started at home at 14:40 and took tram 4 and Stadtbahn S4 to the main station. I entered the main hall and saw that the train to Neustadt would leave in about 5 minutes. Unfortunately, Mo6eB and me didn't say where to meet each other, so after taking a short glimpse at the ticket machines without finding him, I hurried up to platform 102 to catch my train.
