Show up, get to the hash, take a few photos, then leave.

Expedition

Ah, August 26. A nice, sunny summer day. Not a cloud in the sky, not a worry to be had. So why aren't we hashing?

Well, uh...

No good reason, really. But we managed to put off hashing all day until 10 PM, when Kuderererer realized the hash was two miles away. Bassoon had biked farther than that already. So when you have already used the whole day and the sun has set, is there any point to hashing anymore?

Oh yes. The Midnight Geohash.

So Bassoon and Kuderererer waited for time to pass by until there was about a half hour left before midnight. Then they set off for the hash. They arrived about ten minutes before the witching hour and found a place to park in a (deserted) lot for a chemical company. Watching for cops, they crossed the road furtively and Bassoon set to work trying to find the point.

The Satellite Gods were upset tonight. Every few seconds, the uncertainty bubble would contract or expand, sending the blue dot flying all over the map. This would not do. Bassoon held the GPS high above his head, a beacon of shining light in the night. Maybe, just maybe, the Satellite Gods would see it and bestow much GPS signal upon it.

Thankfully, this strategy worked and the hashpoint was soon found. Not a moment too soon, either, because it was 23:59. Then the witching hour was upon us! We snapped the victory shot and the Waste Management sign, then ran (not so) furtively back to the car. Before we left, we took a photo of the Chemical Company who so kindly donated their parking lot to our midnight use and took our groupshot in from of the amazing sciency mural in their lobby. Overall, it was a successful night for such a close hash.
