MayorOfBoxTown, from Memphis, went to college outside Denver, and his old roommate, Jud, and Jud's girlfriend Talia, still live there. So Mayor has been keeping an eye on the geohashes for the Denver graticules. He saw that the geohash for 2012 St. Patty's day was just a short walk/drive from their house! So he sent them an email explaining geohashing and asking them to go to the hash point (for partially selfish reasons).

Expedition

Turns out Jud knew about geohashing, but had never had a chance to go before, so now he had a perfect excuse.
Getting there was easy-- they just drove, then got out and onto the sidewalk. They tried unsuccessfully to get their dog Ally to pose for pictures, then gave up. Jud set the camera in his truck bed in order to get the picture of all three of them (Mayor had thought they had somebody take the picture-- not so). Meanwhile, a grumpy-looking man and his grumpy-looking dog were silently judging the protagonists from the adjacent lawn (also grumpy-looking?).
