Expedition
The spring coming and the migrating birds arriving, Pastori's daughter needed some help moving from the Western Finland to Southern Finland. Pastori borrowed a van and sped on his from the Eastern Finland. A spring storm shaked trees and the car aswell, when Pastori raced through a monstrous rain to help his daughter. The van was quickly loaded with the assistance of 4 young women and the journey continued with an overnight visit to Pastori's sister's place.
The next morning our vanload continued towards Tampere, and look at that: along our journey in the middle of a motorway there was a hashpoint! Pastori decided he would try to drive the maximum allowed speed, 100 km/h, and take a photograph right at the spot of the hashpoint. Wife succeeded in her own opinion quite well and got a reading of 26 meters to the photo. I'm asking the Editor to make allowance for our speed, the response time of our gps receiver, and the fact that we needed to stay on the rightmost lane because of the traffic when he judges our achievement.
The moving of the daughter went well. Pastori is however very exhausted of all the driving and carrying of the wares, and of course reaching the hashpoint.
Total driving distance 1200 km in 36 hours. Quite an accomplishment from retirees, but now it is time to rest.
[Editor's verdict: by looking at the Finnish National Land Survey's maps, you would have been spot on, if you had been going the opposite direction on the left lane. However, considering the things you mentioned and knowing how crappy Pastori's phone's gps receiver is, you wouldn't necessarily have been any wiser in terms of getting a lower reading if you had tried going the other lane. Also, it is quite a remarkable feat in itself to capture a photo of 100 km/h speedracer with as low figure as 26 meters, because you go about 28 meters per second. So I'm in favor of accepting this. Does anybody else disagree? -Tilley]
