Traveling down I-45, about an hour and a half into their trip, the duo took an exit that led to some farmland in Corsicana, Texas. As the duo came down a dirt hill, they happened upon two trucks parked close to the point that Luke was thinking to wander into the woods. "Are these fellow geohashers?" Emily and Luke were on their way to Galveston, Texas for the weekend and planned to hit two hashes along their way!

Expedition

Traveling down I-45, about an hour and a half into their trip, the duo took an exit that led to some farmland in Corsicana, Texas. Luke could not believe they were still in the Dallas, Texas graticule. Such large distances. What appeared first as rural farm roads quickly became gravel roads, which soon turned into dirt roads that had recently been churned up when they were muddy. Google Maps instructed their car to turn into what was clearly a driveway, and Luke wasn't keen on meeting anyone who owned a tall fence labeled with "No trespassing" signs, so they proceeded down an alternate route. Luke knew they'd have to get out and trek through some trees to reach the hashpoint, but was hopeful the swath of trees would not be marked off as forbidden.

As the duo came down a dirt hill, they happened upon two trucks parked close to the point that Luke was thinking to wander into the woods. "Are these fellow geohashers?" Luke foolishly thought for a second. As he drove up behind them, loudly from the dried mud scraping the bottom of his car, Luke saw fishing poles and a lack of urgency to move out of the "road". Within 3 meters of the car, the men moved to the side to let Luke and Emily through. Not 20 meters later, Luke saw the road ahead was washed out, completely muddy and wet. Rather than get stuck and have his newfound stranger friends help him out of the muck, Luke embarrassingly made a three-point turn and headed back up the hill.

Part two here.

Luke earned the There might be alligators! consolation prize
by being prevented from reaching the (32, -96) geohash on 2021-03-05 by an impassable and unforeseen muddy road (and probably lurking alligators).
