Expedition
We reached the Emmerichshütte, a small restaurant nearby, without much trouble and directly started to walk uphill through the forest in the direction of the wind turbines. It was only after a few hundred meters that my boot caught a piece of barbed wire. Luckily it didn't pierce the sole but got stuck in the heel. After removal I threw it aside, realizing only afterwards that I should have carried it to the next bin. But it was too late so we went on and after a strenuous walk of about half an hour we reached the top of the hill. The hash location was almost in sight when Pedro nearly ran into a bunch of even more rusty barbed wire. This time I marked the spot to grab the wire on my way back and placed it somewhere near a turbine so hopefully the maintenance guys can handle it. Afterwards we reached the hash location, took selfie and proof before returning to the car and continuing our voyage.
The detour by car was only 12km adding to the original route length of 144km. The walk itself took me way longer than expected as I didn't anticipate the bad condition of the path and the slope. All in all, the whole adventure added more than 90 minutes to our journey.
