Expedition

I headed down to Lebanon, Oregon, to run on the newish trail system they have there. They're good trails, but they don't offer much shade yet, so I didn't fare as well as I might on a hot day without a breath of wind.

But no worries! From Lebanon, I drove up to Lyons, took a wrong turn, and ended up in Mill City.

No worries! From Mill City, I came back west almost as far as Lyons, got on the road to the hashpoint, and encountered... a very serious gate. It turns out that the hashpoint is in or near one of the areas that was burned over in our horrible wildfires of 2020, and it is now a restricted-entrance area to allow vegetation to recover.

No worries! There was a much less significant road back towards Mill City that would likely let me into the area through a "back door"! So I backtracked to that road, started climbing up into the woods and... ran into another equally serious gate. Unlike most forest gates in the region, there was no sense of "don't bring your vehicle in here, but just be careful if you're on foot." These were SERIOUS gates. So, I decided I was thwarted by closed public access, and wandered off to find a burrito.
