Expedition
With the Independence Day holiday, we had the day off and it was a very nice day for an expedition. We had plans in the afternoon so we needed to get this done right away or we wouldn't have time to make it in the evening. My dad used to take me fishing here on occasion (but on the other side of the reservoir), so I knew there was a path around the top and we could take Myka on our little adventure as well. From the Satellite pictures, I saw there was a parking lot pretty close to the hash and a staircase going to the top, but I couldn't tell if the hash was at the top or bottom of the retaining wall.
After a slow morning, we drove over and found the parking area without any trouble and headed up the path to the top. Along the bottom was open meadow where power lines ran along the side so even if the hash was at the bottom, it should be clear to access. Once at the top, it was very flat and we saw a handful of people around here and there, mostly with dogs. Getting to our spot, I found the hash was indeed back at the bottom of the hill but I judged it to not be too steep to walk down. J was considering staying at the top with Myka but ultimately decided to go down too as there was someone else with a dog that would have passed us in that time.
Carefully making our way down, I was able to locate the hash spot with a good reading from the Hashdroid App and got a few pictures. After making our way back to the top, we had some time so we continued our walk around. We met a random dog that was really far from its owner but neither seemed overly concerned and it was friendly enough that it was ok around us too. Never actually met the owner as we turned around shortly after that to head back where we got into a mini traffic jam at the top of the stairs. There were a few more people coming up with dogs and so we waited for the steps to clear before we headed down ourselves.
We then spent a nice afternoon at J's family's place for a cookout to round out the day.
