Haberdasher's friend Bob successfully managed a puppet geohash!
I, Haberdasher, have been looking up weekend geohashing spots in the whereabouts of Internet friends' homes for the last month or two now, partly in the hopes of getting a Puppet Master achievement, partly just to keep interest going during a drought of good hashpoints locally.
Honestly, I didn't really think this was the one that would get a bite. Better hashpoints--closer to home, more obviously reachable--have come and gone without success, and there was some very real concern that this hashpoint would be located not in the church parking lot (easily reachable) but in the residential back yard backing up to it (not so easily reachable, sans the guts and luck for an Ambassador achievement).
It turned out, though, that my Dallas-area friend Bob was familiar with the area and the church in question, had the free time, and checked it out. All photos are his, and here's his commentary:
"The roof looks different color than the Google picture but that is lighting. Look at the roof vents. I went to the geohashing spot. The one picture is me holding my phone on top of the brick fence looking into the backyard. And just as I did a car pulled into the spot next to me, lol."
Sounds like at least one person in that church parking lot might have reached the hashpoint themselves without even knowing it!
