I don't think you should count it as on the road unless it is actually on the road. I think you actually have to get out of your car and get into the creek for this one, unless you have some kind of mobility impairment, in which case I'd cut you lots of slack. When I had a hash [[2008-07-14_39_-121|less than a tenth of a mile off a bridge]] I went  under the bridge to get it, and when I had one [[2008-08-16 55 -114 |0.2 miles from the road]] I had to make the hard decision not to wade through a swamp to get it. Getting out of the car seems to me to be an important component of geohashing.

The GSP is .21 miles from the geohash, which is just as close as Otter Ct., a local cul-de-sac that would take me several miles out of my way. Opinions: is this close enough? -- Jevanyn

I don't think you should count it as on the road unless it is actually on the road. I think you actually have to get out of your car and get into the creek for this one, unless you have some kind of mobility impairment, in which case I'd cut you lots of slack. When I had a hash less than a tenth of a mile off a bridge I went under the bridge to get it, and when I had one 0.2 miles from the road I had to make the hard decision not to wade through a swamp to get it. Getting out of the car seems to me to be an important component of geohashing.

You can play the game any way you like, however. -Robyn 05:28, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
