Birmingham East Northampton, United Kingdom Cambridge
Swindon London West London East

[[Category:Meetup in {{{lat}}} {{{lon}}}| ]]

The graticule in Mid East contains Northampon, Peterborough and Bedford. It extends into Cambridgeshire as far as Royston, goes as far West as Buckingham, but not as far as Leicester or Nottinham. It goes as far South as just below Milton Keynes and contains Grantham and Boston at the top.

Locations

The graticule has boundaries from 53° to 52° latitude, and -1° to 0° longitude. When following the XKCD geohashing algorithm, append the fractional hash part to 52° latitude and -0° longitude. Note the use of negative zero.

Europe Issue

It has already been flagged on the main page that Europe has an issue where the Dow opens shortly (in our case 90 minutes) before the 4pm meetup time. The algorithm does say to fall back on the "most recent" value, but this means before 2:30pm the official location is different to what it would be if you generated it at 4pm, i.e. when we go to meet the location actually changes if you follow the algorithm to the letter.

As a workaround for now (assuming you can/want to visit locations during the week), it is proposed that the algorithm is extend with one extra detail in that the official time to run it is 10am local time. This means for us in the UK that we will always use the previous day's Dow and the location doesn't suddenly change at 2:30pm.

Of course, this issue isn't a problem at all for Saturdays given on 10am Saturday morning we're still using the value from 2:30pm Friday.
