Plans

  • EvilUncleNomo and The Wife are planning on attempting this geohash at Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.. It's The Wife's birthday and this is the graticule in which she was born. My mother-in-law is visiting, so we're planning to drag her along too. And the high temperature for Saturday is predicted to be 20 degrees Fahrenheit!

Expedition

This geohash was only 16 miles from our home and we were able to drive to within 320 feet of the target. We managed to convince The Wife's mother to go with us, but once we got to the site she refused to get out of the car. (To be fair, she is from Texas and is unaccustomed to this weather.) We did have an unexpected visitor: one of the wife's Asian ball-joint dolls. The Wife claims he must have followed us. I suspect he hid in one of her pockets.

As predicted, it was cold. Really cold. And the longer we were there, the colder it seemed to get. The thermometer registered 24 degrees Fahrenheit before we retreated back to the car. It was The Wife's birthday, but my teeth were chattering too much to sing Happy Birthday.

After the expedition, we once again stopped at McDonald's for a hot cocoa.
