The Plan

With the weekend arrived, I checked in my home graticule of Jacksonville. Too far away for Friday, and the Atlantic for the rest of the weekend. I didn't just want to sit inside all weekend, so I looked for other graticules. Gainesville looked to be the closest that didn't require a wetsuit, but it seemed particularly easy to get to. Instead, I started planning for a Tron achievement; head to FL-21 via I-295, swing around Keystone Heights, take a few weird turns to the hash, then leave via CR-301 to I-10.

The Adventure

Someone, not naming names, did not come fully prepared and we had to stop at a CVS to get some water. And of course I pull into the CVS that has no parking spaces I can pull through. She invalidated my achievement, but while she was dicking about with the GPS, I saw a really bad, overweight Elvis impersonator in a purple suit, so it balanced out.

Either way, it didn't particularly matter one way or the other; when we got to the final road, it was gated off and locked as a private road. Oh no! We have to turn around! Or leave the car and just walk the remaining half mile. That's the same thing, right? But as we were about to leave, the most vicious of ailments claimed NinjaBait's ability to make it - cramps.

It was a largely uneventful dirt road on a largely uneventful bright day, but I made it to the hash and left a marker in the form of a 5 of Clubs pinned to a tree. On the way back, we had a trip down memory lane as we unintentionally bypassed parts of I-10. NinjaBait had stopped in the area for gas when she was moving from Seattle, and when we got back on I-10, it was a place I had stopped for lunch while going for an interview, prompting the move to Jacksonville.
